Peak Peers 2026
Peak Peers is a creative programme for people aged 18–30, rooted in the landscapes and imagination of rural Wales. The programme brings young people together with artists, theatre-makers, ecologists, activists, and designers. Through workshops, walks, and conversations, we explore different ways of thinking, belonging, making, resisting, and imagining in a time of social, political, and environmental crises.

This year's Peak Peers programme will focus on building alternatives, inspired by young people who took part in our 2024 programme. They told us that Peak Peers offers glimpses of how we might ‘build alternatives’, particularly through new forms of community.
When so many things can feel fixed or inevitable, Peak Peers will offer you opportunities to dream, imagine, and make — thinking about how we might collectively build towards the alternatives we need. Contributors will share their tools, ideas, and practices for imagining differently, together.
Contributors include: DARCH (Umulkhayr Mohamed and Radha Patel) and Teasel, with Olive Magill and Beli Evans; Jenő Davies and Iolo Walker; Common/Wealth, with Rhiannon White and Bianca Ali; Casi Wyn; and Matter at hand (Lewis Jones).

Rhaglen greadigol yw Peak Peers ar gyfer pobl ifanc rhwng 18-30 oed, gyda’i gwreiddiau yn nychymyg y Gymru wledig. Mae’r rhaglen yn dod â phobl ifanc at ei gilydd i weithio gydag artistiaid, gwneuthurwyr theatr, ecolegwyr, ymchyrchwyr, a dylunwyr er mwyn archwilio gwahanol ffyrdd o feddwl, perthyn, creu, gwrthsefyll a dychmygu mewn cyfnod o argyfwng cymdeithasol, gwleidyddol ac amgylcheddol.

Bydd rhaglen Peak Peers eleni yn canolbwyntio ar adeiladu ffyrdd amgen o fod yn y byd, wedi ei ysbrydoli gan y bobl ifanc gymerodd ran yn rhaglen 2024. Dywedon nhw fod Peak Peers yn cynnig cipolygon ar ffyrdd o “adeiladu strwythurauamgen”, yn enwedig drwy greu mathau newydd o gymuned.
Pan fo cynifer o bethau’n gallu teimlo’n sownd neu’n anochel, bydd Peak Peers yn cynnig cyfleoedd i chi freuddwydio, dychmygu, a chreu — gan ystyried sut allwn ni adeiladu’r strwythurau amgen sydd eu hangen arnom gyda’n gilydd. Bydd cyfranwyr yn rhannu eu dyfeisiau, syniadau, ac arferion ar gyfer dychmygu mewn ffordd wahanol, ar y cyd.

Work alongside inspiring artists, theatre-makers, ecologists, activists, and designers
Collaborate with your peers, developing new friendships and networks
Explore different approaches to imagining alternative futures through creative activities, walks, visits, and conversations
Build new skills and share existing ones with the group
Access one-to-one mentoring opportunities and future opportunities as part of the Peak network
All participants will receive a £600 bursary to cover expenses, including travel.

To apply to Peak Peers, you need to be:
18—30 years old
Living within one hour of Abergavenny
Able to travel to/from Abergavenny or Crickhowell each day of the programme (all additional travel within the programme will be arranged by Peak)
Available for all the dates
Interested in the themes, keen to hear new ideas and to work with other people
No art experience or technical skills needed
You can still apply to Peak Peers even if you’ve taken part in a previous Peak programme (except for Platfform Haf 2022, Peak Peers 2023, and Peak Peers 2024).

Please note that this information will not inform the selection process; it is used only to ensure that the programme is accessible for everyone taking part. We also undertake one-to-one chats with participants after the selection process, to further shape the programme to participants’ needs.
The programme will involve some walking and exploration at outdoor sites, and you will need to be able to attend two consecutive days each weekend.

Applications will be considered by a panel of young people who have previously taken part in Peak programmes, alongside Peak staff. The process has two stages: shortlisting, followed by short, informal online interviews on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 April. We will contact all applicants with a decision by Wednesday 22 April.
We hope to bring together a peer group with a wide range of interests and lived experiences, offering an open and welcoming space for connection, dialogue and experimentation. We particularly welcome applications from young people who have faced barriers to accessing creative opportunities, those who come from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the arts, and young people under the age of 25.

About the Contributors
*please see full biographies here*
DARCH, the collaborative practice of Umulkhayr Mohamed and Radha Patel, with guest contributors Olive Magill and Beli Evans from Teasel—a collective Um and Radha are also part of. DARCH is grounded in care-centred approaches and guided by a politics of solidarity, liberation and ancestral honouring. Through sound work, conversations, storytelling, performance and sculpture, they explore rituals, shrine building, animism and relationships to land. Teasel is a queer cooperative project focused on land justice and land connection, engaging communities in reconnecting with the land through workshops, skill-sharing, celebrations and political education.
Artists Jenő Davies and Iolo Walker. Jenő is a multidisciplinary artist from West Wales, working across sculpture and film, focusing on hand-made approaches. Their work blurs fantasy with the every-day, living and working at the rural periphery whilst embracing sentimentality and conflict found in these spaces. Iolo is a multidisciplinary artist based in Eryri, Wales and their practice spans filmmaking, digital embroidery and sculpture, exploring queer ecologies (understanding nature, biology, and sexuality in the light of queer theory) and mutating landscapes. Meadowsweet Palisade - their recent collaborative exhibition at Chapter, Cardiff - ‘reflect[ed] on the power of withdrawal and rural peripheries to create spaces of introspection and renewal.'
Political theatre company Common/Wealth, with co-founder and co-director Rhiannon White and activist, actress and writer Bianca Ali. Based in Cardiff and Bradford, Common/Wealth makes radical theatre that addresses the social injustices and urgent concerns of our times, in partnership with the people most affected by inequity. Their work is rooted in socialist politics, working-class backgrounds, and a radical ambition to shift things. Common/Wealth’s most recent work includes Demand the Impossible, a production about police infiltration and injustice within activist movements.
Poet, composer and singer Casi Wyn. Casi worked with Peak across 2025 as the guest curator of Pegwn, developing a programme for artists which explored the Welsh language as a tool for rooting into place and uprooting the imagination. Casi is the Creative Director and Editor of independent Welsh magazine, Codi Pais and led the Urdd’s Peace and Goodwill message in 2024.
Matter at hand, the design practice of Lewis Jones, works across architecture, material science and hands-on construction to explore the materials and processes that shape our built environment. Lewis co-founded the architecture and design collective Assemble, co-led the long-term collaborative project Granby Four Streets— a project awarded the 2015 Turner Prize—and developed Granby Workshop, a neighbourhood-based ceramics manufacturer.
