Storm Kitchen

A programme on the Mon & Brec exploring climate, colonialisation, food, land, slowness, deep time and radical futures

Rhaglen ar Gamlas Sir Fynwy a Brycheiniog yn archwilio hinsawdd, gwladychu, bwyd, tir, arafwch, amser dwfn a dyfodol radical

Storm Kitchen Talks grew from Season 2 of Ahoi! What Grows Here? and extended on previous Hinterlands Cymru activity at Pontymoile Basin, setting sail along the length of the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal during Autumn 2020.

Tyfodd sgyrsiau Storm Kitchen o ail dymor Ahoi! What Grows Here? ac roedd yn ehangu ar weithgarwch blaenorol Hinterlands Cymru ym Masn Pont-y-moel, gan hwylio ar hyd Camlas Sir Fynwy a Brycheiniog yn ystod hydref 2020.

Repurposing a narrowboat as a roving larder market stall and conversation space, Storm Kitchen travelled slowly from Brecon to Pontypool across October 2020 guided by artists Owen Griffiths and Ella Gibbs, joined by an incredible group of speakers, activists and thinkers.

Gan ailbwrpasu cwch cul yn stondin farchnad bantri grwydrol ac yn ofod i sgwrsio, teithiodd Storm Kitchen yn araf o Aberhonddu i Bont-y-pŵl drwy Hydref 2020 dan arweiniad yr artistiaid Owen Griffiths ac Ella Gibbs, gyda grŵp anhygoel o siaradwyr, ymgyrchwyr a meddylwyr yn ymuno â nhw.

A weekly conversation series Storm Kitchen Talks  discussed climate, colonialism, food, land, deep time and radical futures from the Mon & Brec. Every Wednesday evening in October 2020 we travelled north to south along the canal with invited guests, broadcasting on zoom. Storm Kitchen Talks were curated by Owen Griffiths, Stevie MacKinnon-Smith and Peak with technical development by Rosie Strickland. Three emerging writers working in Welsh were commissioned by Peak to respond creatively to the ideas explored in the talks. These texts – by Llinos Anwyl, Cerys Hafana, and Dylan Huw can be accessed here.

Roedd cyfres wythnosol o sgyrsiau Storm Kitchen yn trafod yr hinsawdd, gwladychiaeth, bwyd, tir, amser dwfn a dyfodol radical ar Gamlas Sir Fynwy a Brycheiniog. Bob nos Fercher ym mis Hydref 2020, teithion ni o gyfeiriad y gogledd am y de ar hyd y gamlas gyda gwesteion gwadd, gan ddarlledu ar Zoom. Curadwyd sgyrsiau Storm Kitchen gan Owen Griffiths, Stevie MacKinnon-Smith a Peak gyda datblygiad technegol gan Rosie Strickland. Comisiynodd Peak dri egin-awdur sy’n gweithio drwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg i ymateb yn greadigol i’r syniadau a archwiliwyd yn y sgyrsiau. Mae modd gweld y testunau hyn – gan Llinos Anwyl, Cerys Hafana, a Dylan Huw – yma.
